Chinese painting can be done on all kinds of mediums. The oldest medium is stone. Ancient Chinese people had Chinese paintings painted on stone walls. Actually other countries also have stone wall paintings.

Tang Dynasty renowned painter Wang Wei (701-761 or 698-759) was born in Qi (now Shanxi Qixian). His father moves Pu Cheng (now Shan Xi Yongji. He is not only the famous painter, renowned poet, also is a musician. Once he saw a painting "Plays music Chart". He looked at for a while and laugh unconsciously. The man asked why he laughed.
